A Personal Note: My Cousin’s House Burned Down and we are all devastated

Please pardon the brief departure from travel related content while we share some sad news. Yesterday our cousin’s house caught fire and was severely damaged . Fortunately, they (the 4 kids, 1 dog, and a chicken) are all safe. Unfortunately, there was significant damage to house (including the garage where some of their business equipment was stored) and they are presently displaced.

As small business owners (they own a small gun shop in Southern California) this kind of situation can be very impactful. Some of their customers have started a GoFundMe page to help tide them over during this trying situation. They are incredibly generous and kind people – salt of the earth folks and it’s not surprising their customers return the generosity!

If you have the means, please consider supporting them. Thank you for stopping in.

I lived in Paradise; my house burned, along with thousands of others. It sucks, and will continue to suck. My thoughts are with them; I hope most of their irreplaceable possessions made it through.
