In something out of a Mission Impossible film, a crew of armed robbers stormed a runway in Albania taking the equivalent of $2.8 million dollars from Austrian flight OS848 plane before it left Teresa Rinasi International Airport.

The DW.com news report indicated that the crew involved in the heist wore masks and carried assault weapons and grenades. One member of the team was shot and killed in a subsequent police chase.

The brazen robbery occurred prior to boarding so no passengers were affected (apart from the flight being delayed several hours) and apparently this sort of thing has happened before. Banks in Albania ship currency to Vienna due to banking restrictions in the country. According to the NY Post, a crew stole 3.2m euros in February 2017.
