A boozed up passenger traveling with his buddies on a Ryanair flight to Ibiza was arrested after vaping on the plane. The now-viral incident was captured on video and shared on TikTok as a swarm of law enforcement officials handcuffed him and tossed him in a paddywagon. His friends continued their trip to Ibiza without him.

A 23-year-old man from Lancashire was arrested last weekend after vaping on his Ryanair flight before it departed. Jack Stringer, and his buddies, were destined for Ibiza for a weekend of partying when he decided to fire up the vape pen before the flight left. Vaping, of course, is prohibited on most airlines, including Ryanair.

Stringer, who was reportedly intoxicated, had the vape pen taken from him by a Ryanair flight attendant who then contacted the authorities to remove the man.

Alex Jackson, a barber who was also on the same flight, captured some of the incident on a now-viral video that he shared to TikTok. The video, which as over 4 million views and multiple comments shows Stringer being escorted off the plane before being surrounded by 7 or 8 police officers who handcuff him and toss him into the back of a paddywagon.

According to the Sun, Stringer’s friends continued on to Ibiza for their weekend of fun.

Comments on the incident span the gamut with some suggesting the response was a bit over the top, while others indicating it was totally justified:

  • “Can’t smoke on a plane. They done the right thing”
  • “Imagine being so addicted to his vape that he’d rather try and sneak some than just wait til after this flight”
  • “Literally a 2h flight can you not wait?”
  • “its not over the top its purely 4 safety”
  • “I feel like this escalated or we’re only getting part of the story. Getting removed from a plane wouldn’t warrant a van and cuffs”

Stringer was charged with violating public order and is slated to appear in Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on August 3rd.

One passenger who was seated behind the man’s buddies had this to say to the Sun: “He always does this sort of stuff.”

The flight was briefly delayed during the incident, but eventually continued on to Ibiza, sans Stringer and his vape pen, of course.
