Early reports of a derailed Amtrak are starting to emerge as vivid pictures show cars tipped on their sides. Social media is ablaze with photos and videos of the derailed train. Thus far, 3 fatalities have been reported with multiple injuries to passengers.


A local news station is reporting that an Amtrak train has derailed in central Montana. The train was running between Seattle and Chicago and according to KXLY out of Washington state, the is known as the Empire Builder. According to most reports, it derailed in between the Havre and Shelby stops in Montana.

According to At the Crossing Productions, the train travels at an average speed of 70mph in this stretch of the journey. Numerous social media messages indicate two cars have been separate from the main part of the train with at least three cars on their side. Various news sources are reporting the train was carrying 147 passengers and 16 crew at the time of the accident.

After initial reports of no fatalities, the AP News is now reporting there were at least 3 fatalities that have occurred as a result of the derailment with as many as 50 passengers injured.

According to one passenger, as noted by a reporter on Twitter, the train was near Buelow when the accident occurred.

Was everyone wearing their masks? Because if they weren’t, then that’s why the train derailed…..either that or Hunter was driving that train high on cocaine.
