The San Antonio Police Department recently released a video of the horrifying airport shooting that occurred at the San Antonio Airport in mid-April. Viewer discretion advised.
The newly released surveillance video captures the perpetrator, 46-year-old Joe Gomez, who exits his vehicle firing a .45 caliber handgun indiscriminately into airport visitors, calmly pausing to reload.
The video, which includes 9-1-1 call audio as well, also shows the heroic efforts of a San Antonio PD officer running towards the shooter, moving to cover and returning fire, ultimately striking the active shooter before Gomez takes his own life.
This incident, while terrifying, resulted in few injuries, according to San Antonio PD Police Chief Sean McManus:
“The shooter had a lot of ammunition and was shooting indiscriminately. We’re lucky today not to have a lot of people injured or killed during this event.”
