US Marine confronts MAGA protesters at airport; calls them terrorists

During a TV interview with a MAGA protester, a United States Marine confronts the man, calling the rioters who broke into the US Capitol terrorists. It went how you think it would.

The attack on the US Capitol building on January 6th shocked Americans and the world. The reactions have been varied, but have largely been swift condemnation and outrage. In an interview with a CBS new channel out of Atlanta, a Make America Great Again (MAGA) protester is interrupted mid-interview by a man claiming to be a retired Marine.

The interview, which occurred in the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson airport the day after the riots, shows a man wearing a MAGA hat being interviewed. Then a man approaches, calling them a “bunch of <expletive> terrorists.” He later says he’s a Marine. Here’s the video:

Here’s what we don’t know about the incident:

  • If the MAGA interviewee was at the US Capitol protest
  • If the interviewee participated in the storming the Capitol and related riot
  • If the man claiming to be a Marine actually is a Marine (although he did show what appeared to his military ID)

What we do know is that many Americans were disgusted by the events that unfolded in the nation’s Capitol and that tensions continue to run hot.

As the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden approaches, airports, airlines and government agencies are on high alert and prepared for anything. The FAA recently announced new fines of up to $35,000 and imprisonment for unruly passengers. Airbnb has restricted DC-area bookings and the National Guard has been recalled to the National Mall area and begun fortifying government buildings.
