It’s Veteran’s Day and if y’all will pardon the interruption, we’d like to take a moment and thank all of the Veteran’s working in the travel industry.
If you’ve traveled much it’s not uncommon to find vets working a variety of different jobs in the travel industry. From TSA Agents to pilots, ground crew, gate agents, flight attendants, hotel staff, airport police, shuttle drivers, and more, I’ve encountered thousands of vets grinding away in this (sometimes) crazy travel industry.
Most travel companies understand and appreciate the value that a highly disciplined veteran can bring to their workforce and in a world where it can be challenging to find hardworking, talented, respectful employees, the military is a great place to look.
Many companies actively recruit veterans directly out of the military who take on a second career after retiring or who’ve made the transition out after their initial obligation.
For example, Southwest Airlines employs nearly 10,000 vets and actively recruits from the military for their workforce. You can spot many of them by the special pin they are wearing.
Keep an eye out for them today and all military vets you might encounter if traveling. Shake their hand or tip your hat.
Thanks for serving.
Jeremy
