“The world is crazy. Stay strapped.” Celebrities lead vastly different lives than the rest of us and sometimes they think the rules don’t apply to them. Such was the case with this comedian who was recently caught with a shocking item in his luggage as he attempted (allegedly) to circumvent the rules by traveling with this item.
Traveling with firearms isn’t really that complicated. Follow a few simple rules and all will go well. Try to bring it through airport security in your carry-on. Not a great idea. In fact, in many cases, it could get you arrested. Such was the case for comedian Mike Epps who was recently investigated for attempting to bring a loaded gun through airport security on a recent trip through Indianapolis.
According to People, the 52-year-old comedian was found with a loaded revolver in his carry-on luggage although the firing pin was removed. With 4 rounds of ammunition loaded (an odd number, to be sure) and the firing pin removed, Epps certainly had some explaining to do.
The weapon was ultimately confiscated by the TSA although Epps was not arrested and was allowed to continue his travels. Now it’s up to the Marion County district attorney to determine if charges should be filed against the actor who’d just hosted a comedy event with several other notable comedians the night before.
Epps released a statement via a short video apologizing for the situation noting that he had a long night in his hometown and forgot the weapon was in his bag. He further noted that he carries a weapon on himself because he wears jewelry and carries cash and has to protect himself. He ended his video by noting, “The world is crazy. Stay strapped.”
Although…maybe Epps just throws the revolver at the bad guys since the firing pin is removed.
