The wild tale has several twists and turns, but features drug dealers arrested for kidnapping a woman who may have stolen their drug cash while attempting to rent a car at a New Hampshire airport.
37-year-old Kurtis Marcy and 32-year-old Adam Adolph, both of Thetford Vermont were arrested along with 37-year-old April Arnold of South Royalton Vermont on charges of kidnapping a woman at a New Hampshire Airport.
The wild story unfolded earlier this week and features several twists and turns including stolen drug cash, an attempt to rent car, a kidnapping and a pepper-spray-led arrest.
According to the Valley News, three alleged drug dealers were attempting to rent a car from the Lebanon New Hampshire Airport (LEB) earlier this week. Brooke Barnaby, her fiance Alexander Mamaev, and a third person, Kurtis Marcy, along with a backpack later alleged to contain more than $50k in cash, were attempting to rent a car from the LEB airport. However, because they could not produce a valid credit card they were denied a rental car. As the trio mulled around the airport calling folks to get a ride, Barnaby’s fiance left to use the bathroom.
It was at this moment that Kurtis Marcy grabbed the backpack in cash from Barnaby and fled the airport with Barnaby in chase. Marcy then lept into a car driven by Adolph and Arnold and attempted to speed off. Witnesses reported seeing Barnaby attempt to leap over a railing before face planting on the ground. She then lept up and dove into an open door in a car driven by Adolph and Arnold, her feet hanging out the car door.
The car sped through a grassy area in the airport complex before getting back onto the road.
According to the affidavit, Barnaby gave to the police, she attempted to exit the car but was held down by Marcy while Arnold told her she’d shoot her in the knee. Barnaby also later admitted that her fiance Alexander Mamaev had pepper-sprayed Arnold and took the backpack of cash which was in fact Arnold’s all along.
Barnaby’s fiance contacted police who later found Barnaby at a nearby Hampton Inn according to the VT Digger. Apparently, the 3 kidnappers split up at some point and Marcy was later arrested in Vermont on a traffic charge and is being extradited to New Hampshire to face charges of kidnapping.
Police later located Adolph and Arnold and raided their location which was the apartment of another conspirator in the initial cash stealing, Keith Belisle. After launching pepper spray grenades into the building. They were found hiding under a pile of blankets and in a wall. In their possession was $12k in cash, and large amounts of heroin.
All three suspects face charges of kidnapping and drug possession. No charges appear to have been filed against Barnaby, Mamaev, or Belisle.
