Online travel juggernaut Expedia unveiled a new promotion designed to entice fans to “Travel like Memo.” Guillermo “Memo” Ochoa, the famous professional soccer goalkeeper and current Mexican national team starter, joined forces with Expedia to offer two fans a chance to meet the goalie on a trip to Mexico City.
In the press release, Mexican national team goalie and superstar Guillermo “Memo” Ochoa said, “I started playing soccer when I was ten years old, and since then I’ve been traveling the world. Traveling is part of my profession,” said Ochoa. “I am proud to help Expedia introduce Mexico City to more people, to let travelers in on the secrets of the city that make it special and make it my home.”
Memo has partnered with Expedia as part of a promotion that offers two lucky fans the chance to travel to Mexico City for a meet and greet with the superstar who plays his professional club ball with Mexican soccer league stalwart Club America.
Lauri Metrose, senior vice president of global PR and social media for Expedia, noted, “We are always looking for ways to authentically engage with travelers and create memorable, exclusive travel experiences, and working with Memo to highlight his favorite spots brings that extra magic and inspiration when planning a trip to Mexico City.”
She went on to say, “We couldn’t be happier to partner with Memo, who embodies our ‘Made to Travel’ philosophy, to show off his hometown and the places most meaningful to him.”
Memo and Expedia have curated a unique itinerary that features the St. Regis hotel, some of Memo’s favorite places to eat, as well as the best place to watch a soccer game that he’s not playing in.
