The Chicago-area man who hopped an airport fence, and walked on a runway before taking off his clothes and clambering onto the wing of a private jet at the Midway airport (MDW) earlier this year learned his sentence.
Javier Martinez, 33, climbed over a barbed wire fence at the busy Midway airport (MDW) in March. He was seen walking down the runway before being chased by airport authorities. He later took his clothes off and climbed on the wing of a parked private jet before being apprehended and taken into custody by police officers.
Martinez has been in custody since the event and was facing charges of criminal trespass to which he recently pled guilty. Now, he’s learned his sentence. After spending over 180 days in custody already it turns out Martinez is just about halfway there already after a Chicago judge sentenced him to a year in jail with time served.
The judge also tacked on a year of supervised release. Martinez pled guilty to one count of felony criminal trespass. His reasons for climbing the fence in the first place remain unknown.
