A female traveler to New York allegedly sexually harassed a male passenger while hopped up on Xanax and booze. The airline, apparently, let the behavior occur and now the victim is suing.
Nervous fliers are quite commonplace and Xanax (or other anti-anxiety medication like it) is commonly prescribed or used (or abused) to help them get through the challenges of a flight. Often anxious fliers will turn to booze to help them self-medicate their way through a stressful travel situation, but the combination of the two can result in some poor outcomes.
One such outcome is alleged to have occurred when a female passenger on a flight from Greece to New York mixed wine and Xanax and then got frisky with a male passenger who wasn’t having it.
According to a New York Post article, the woman drank some wine and took some Xanax before her flight home where she is alleged to have assaulted and harassed a male passenger. The woman is reported to have commented on his large muscles, massaged his neck and inner thigh and even offered, at one point, to lay on top of him in a non-sexual way.
The unnamed passenger sought assistance from the flight crew who, according to a new lawsuit, were unwilling or unable to assist. At one point, the man was forced to sit on a folding chair to keep himself away from the passenger and the flight crew considered an emergency landing.
Upon landing in New York, the woman was ultimately arrested.
Now, the passenger is suing Delta Airlines for failing to take his complaints seriously and for overserving the woman. In a recently filed lawsuit, the man claims that because he was male the crew didn’t take his claims seriously and that he now suffers from extreme anxiety over flying.
