Man drinks entire bottle of wine on short flight and we are impressed…kinda

In an impressive feat, a passenger recently drank an entire bottle of wine on a short 2-hour flight and honestly, we aren’t even mad. Consider us impressed. And disconcerted.

As most know, bringing your own booze on flights these days is a no-no. Sure, you can travel with booze (e.g. you bought it at the duty-free store and are taking it home) but you can’t bust out your own flask of Jim Beam midflight. There does not appear to be a rule about how much airline-provided alcohol you can consume on a flight.

As was humorously shared by fellow BoardingArea blogger View from the Wing, this recent flight a passenger was given an entire bottle of wine by a flight attendant…and proceeded to drink the entire thing.

The flight was an American Airlines flight from Charlotte to Miami which is roughly a 2-hour flight. What’s impressive and slightly disconcerting about this is that the flight attendant would let the passenger drink that much booze. The fact the passenger consumed that much in such a short amount of time is kinda funny…in an unhealthy way. Hey, if you need your wine, you need your wine. Maybe it was a bad day. Maybe he was caught up in the recent Southwest Airlines travel fiasco. Who knows. It’s a slow travel news day. 🙂

On a more serious note, it is unusual for someone to be given an entire bottle to drink and even more unusual in today’s travel universe where alcohol remains a large factor in the many (many!) travel and airport freakouts we are seeing almost every day. Seems unwise at a minimum.
