TSA Agent activates hero mode, saves infant’s life

In a stunning display of heroism, one TSA Agent activated hero mode, leaping over a conveyor belt to save an infant’s life. The feel-good story comes during one of the busiest travel periods of the year as millions of travelers are traveling for the holidays.

Newly christened Transportation Security Administration Agent Cecilia Morales was working her shift like any other day in her short 2-month career when she heard the heart-stopping screams of a mother. Realizing the mother’s infant was suffering a medical emergency, Morale’s EMT training kicked in and she lept over the conveyor belt to assist.

According to reporting from New York’s NBC Channel 4, the 2-month-old infant wasn’t breathing and appeared to be choking on something. Morales then performed the infant version of the Heimlich maneuver and successfully restored breathing to the infant before waiting for the paramedics to arrive.

Morales initially shouted instructions at the mother but when those were ineffective she clambered over the conveyor belt and took control of the situation, ultimately restoring breathing to the baby.

For her part, Morales was humbled at the outpouring of respect for her actions. Her manager, Ayrana Frazier, offered this praise: “If Officer Morales did not utilize her critical thinking, knowledge and quick response, perhaps we could have had a terrible outcome,” Frazier said. “In the moment, Officer Morales was selfless, and her priority was to save a life. We are proud to call her one of our own.”
