A man was recently arrested after attempting to travel with a suitcase full of drugs. After a brief foot pursuit, the man was taken into custody and now faces nine charges including possession with the intent to distribute Xanax, marijuana, fentanyl, and cocaine.
Akeem Lateef Hemphill, a 32-year-old man from the Nashville area, was arrested on Thursday, February 17th, at the Nashville International Airport on charges of possession with intent to distribute. The career criminal was already on parole but was busted again, this time with a hair-brained scheme to travel with a suitcase full of drugs.
Hemphill and his girlfriend conspired to travel with the drugs from Nashville to Las Vegas, but their scheme was a comedy of errors at almost every step of the way.
Their first mistake was simple: traveling with a suitcase of drugs is, by itself, stupid. The suitcase will go through a screening of some sort and while things do get by the scanners, a suitcase full of weed, coke, fentanyl, etc, probably is not going to make it.

Strike two was leaving the suitcase by itself at the airport – inviting police scrutiny. According to a local news report, a Spirit Airlines representative let airport police know that a woman had left a suitcase with them at the curbside dropoff for her boyfriend to pick up.
When Hemphill did arrive to retrieve the back officers were waiting for him. Hemphill’s story was pretty shady which was strike three. Apparently, he told officers that his girlfriend, a woman named Jherrica Kinslow, had paid him to send the bag to Las Vegas. Sketchy…
Strike three was the suitcase smelling like marijuana. Morons…
Strike four was the luggage tag not matching the name of the passenger. This error, along with the smell of weed is what teed officers into thinking some criminal activity was going down. Should have read our luggage tag article…duh.
A history of drug infractions and that face Hemphill was currently on parole were just about all the officers needed. K9 and the bomb squad were requested and the officers decided to search his car. After requesting to search his vehicle, Hemphill decided to make a run for it, tossing a bag of what was later found to be Xanax on the way.
After a brief foot pursuit, Hemphill was arrested and is now facing nine different charges after drugs were found in the suitcase, the car, on his person, plus the bolt from the officers.
These folks may not be the dumbest criminals ever, but they might just be the dumbest criminals at Nashville Airport last Thursday.

So I personally know these people, y’all missed so many details and facts. You lied on them completely. Shame on you to drag innocent ppl into it. Missing so many facts.
