Aerodata Briefly Down this AM causing 1800 Flight Delays

According to a variety of news reports, AeroData, the system responsible for calculating weight and performance of airplanes, briefly experienced technical delays. These delays appear to have affected several airlines. Jetblue, Delta, American and Southwest all reported issues.

“AeroData is currently experiencing a technical issue that is impacting multiple carriers. We appreciate your patience during the wait. American Airlines” @AmericanAir

Apparently the glitch was brief, but FlightAware is suggesting that nearly 1800 flights have been delayed.

Stay tuned for more info.

And in the “WTF” Category…

As an aside, when you go to the Aerodata website you are treated to a fun little visit down Memory lane where the company responseible for software that tells you that your plane doesn’t weigh too much so you won’t crash is announcing an upgrade to Silverlight.
