Effective November 21st, the State of California is implementing a new stay at home order that restricts the movement of people between the hours of 10:00PM and 5:00AM.
Governor Gavin Newsome, who’s been under fire recently for a party he attended, issued the revised guidance set to take effect on Saturday, November 21st. The new order effectively sets a curfew between the hours of 10:00PM and 5:00AM for those counties currently in the Tier One (or Purple) range of California’s COVID plan.
The order notes:
Therefore, as the State Public Health Officer, I am issuing a Limited Stay at Home order, effective in counties under Tier One (Purple) of California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy, requiring that all gatherings with members of other households and all activities conducted outside the residence, lodging, or temporary accommodation with members of other households cease between 10:00pm PST and 5:00am PST, except for those activities associated with the operation, maintenance, or usage of critical infrastructure or required by law. This order does not apply to persons experiencing homelessness. Nothing in this order prevents any number of persons from the same household from leaving their residence, lodging, or temporary accommodation, as long as they do not engage in any interaction with (or otherwise gather with) any number of persons from any other household, except as specifically permitted herein.
The order comes on the heels of a rapid increase in coronavirus infections in the State of California and effects nearly ever county in the state. Specifically, those states currently in the “Purple Tier” (which is most, including Riverside County, San Bernardino, Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Diego County and many, many more, are affected.
California recently joined two other western states (Oregon & Washington) in issuing joint guidance encouraging a 14 day quarantine for folks traveling into those respective states and the CDC has just issued new guidance strongly discouraging Thanksgiving-related travel.
