Well, it happened again. Another travel freakout. This week a white passenger (whom the internet has dubbed a “Karen”) appears to be holding up the deplaning process on a Southwest flight. A fellow passenger pushes past her and the screaming begins. Watch the video below and judge for yourself.
It’s been a few days since we had another travel freakout, but they continue to keep occurring as tensions remain high and people remain stupid. This video, which was posted to Reddit in the last few days, shows what appears to be a Southwest Airlines flight in the process of deplaning.
Although the details of this incident are not entirely clear, Southwest, like many airlines right now, deplanes one row at a time as part of their COVID protocols. The video picks up after what is presumably some sort of confrontation between a seated white woman and a standing black passenger, also female.
An off-camera flight attendant asks the passenger if she’s going to get off the plane or just sit there and scream. The standing female passenger appears to indicate she needs to use the bathroom. After a few words are exchanged, she pushes past the seated woman who begins screaming and appears to grab the black passenger’s clothing as she pushes by – perhaps in an attempt to feign an assault.
The flight attendant comes into camera view and remarks, in a visibly agitated fashion, that she works here when the seated woman confronts her. The flight attendant orders the woman to get off the plane and the video ends. Watch the video below.
The video then ends, but the speculation does not. The twitterverse lit up with reactions including these:
