A protester confronts Senator Krysten Sinema as she is traveling, asking for her commitment on an important immigration issue. The peaceful confrontation highlights the recent tensions that have existed between the moderate Democrat and the progressive wings of her party.
“Would you commit to providing a pathway to citizenship for immigrants?” the protester asks Sinema. The peaceful encounter starts with a bemasked passenger walking down the aisle of the plane, her phone’s camera recording. She kneels before the Senator who appears to be reading and perhaps listening to music (she has AirPods in) and asks her if the senator will commit to providing said pathway.
The woman apologizes for interrupting the senator but is persistent in her query. At one point the senator replies, but her response is unintelligible. The woman continues her plaintive request but elicits no further response from the senator who largely ignores her from that point forward.

This incident comes on the heels of a recent encounter in the senator’s home state of Arizona where she was accosted by protestors who followed her into the bathroom and encounter that even CNN believes went too far.
