Rude: man lays across entire row in bid to save seats on Southwest flight

In a bid to save seats on a Southwest Airlines flight, a man was seen sprawling out across an entire row. What do we think about this move? Clever or just rude?

Southwest Airlines is known for its quirky boarding process and its “no assigned seat” policy. These brand choices are unique in their nature and beloved (oddly) by many fans of the spunky airline. However, they can also create some bizarre situations and unlock the inner Lord of the Flies child hiding in each passenger.

On a recent Southwest Airlines flight a male passenger was snapped as he sprawled out across an entire row of seats in an attempt to save seats (presumably for someone else in his party that had yet to board).

New low for me. Laid across all three seats to “save them”.

Savings seats is technically a no-no under Southwest Airlines’ seating policy but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. In fact, there isn’t a single Southwest flight this writer’s been on where someone hasn’t tried to save seats or is successful in doing so. Flight attendants are generally loathe to get engaged and tend to let Darwin run it’s course — unless a dispute breaks out.

Usually, passengers will set bags across seats and avoid making eye contact with other boarding passengers. Some will drape a coat or article of clothing in an attempt to ‘save the seat.” But, laying across the entire row? Power move.

Also, a bit of d*ck move, if you ask us.

If you need to travel with your party that bad then fly on an airline with assigned seats, or get better at manipulating Southwest Airlines’ boarding policies (e.g. A-list, etc).
