The Mikesell family of influencers inadvertently filmed their own plane crash in late 2020 and survived to tell the tale. Now family returns to the crash site to document their emotional journey. The viral video of their terrifying crash shows how quickly good times can turn scary and the return video (this time by car) gets emotional as the family revisits the site, meets with rescuers, and shares previously unseen footage from the day of the crash.

A few weeks ago we shared the Mikesell family story (and video) which shows the Utah-based YouTube and Instagram influencers on what was originally a fun-filled goof off day. The plane ultimately experienced engine trouble and was forced to crash land near a beach where they were rescued by people visiting the nearby lake.

Gentry, the Mikesell patriarch, and Shad, the pilot, were both seriously injured in the accident and required evacuation by helicopter to the nearest hospital.

Despite suffering significant injuries, the family survived and shared several emotional videos over the course of their recovery. Recently, the family returned to the crash site, this time via car. During their visit, they met with one of the primary rescuers who happened to be at a cabin near the lake that day and we learn even more about their harrowing experience.

Here’s the return video:

As much as I want to be irritated at this influencer family, they seem like genuinely nice people who had the bad luck of experiencing a very rare occurrence: a plane crash and came through it.
