In what is easily the wildest travel freakout / unruly passenger story we’ve ever heard a man was arrested after freaking out on a plane because he believed a fellow passenger was trying to steal his DNA via hypodermic needles.
The incident occurred on a Frontier Airlines flight from New York City to Orlando when an unruly passenger claimed a woman seated behind him was attempting to steal his DNA with needles. The man later threatened to take the plane down, killing everyone, and even threatening an infant.
Frontier Airlines Flight 1335 was traveling from New York’s La Guardia Airport to Orlando and was forced to make an emergency landing in Raleigh North Carolina. According to local news reports, it took 6 men on the plane to restrain the agitated passenger, whose name was not released to the public.
In a video shared to Twitter, the man can be heard shouting something to the effect of, “They stickin’ m’f***ers with needles, takin’ my f***in’ DNA, all kinda sh*t!”
Authorities met the flight in Raleigh where the man was taken into custody. According to one report, the case has been referred to the FBI for further investigation, a common occurrence for in-flight disturbances.
Thus far, no evidence the woman was actually attempting to steal his DNA with needles has emerged.
This is the second flight this week requiring an emergency landing because of an unruly passenger. On a recent flight to Los Angeles, an American Airlines flight was forced to land in New Mexico when a man became unglued after being asked to stop his children from running up and down the aisle of the plane. The man threatened to kill the flight attendant.
