One woman’s traumatic nightmare turned around after she was upgraded to a first-class seat when a creepy old man sitting next to her coach seat started watching inappropriate content on his phone.
The woman’s video went viral on TikTok after she shared her story of sitting next to an older man on a plane who started watching inappropriate content on his phone. After informing the flight attendants, Melanie Scholfield, whose video has has nearly 130,000 likes so far and has been viewed over half a million times, was upgraded to a first-class seat.
Melanie notes that when she originally took her window seat her seatmate started looking up “sex on planes” and began to watch graphic pornography involving sex acts being performed on a plane. She began to feel very uncomfortable, convinced the man was doing it on purpose, and left her seat, running to the front of the plane, crying, to chat with a flight attendant.
The flight attendant ultimately upgraded Scholfield to an open first-class seat to mitigate the situation.
Scholfield later shared a second video explaining the situation in more detail and notes that she was very grateful for the flight attendant’s assistance throughout the ordeal. Schofield also offered this statement, “I wish this kind of disgusting behavior did not exist and I hope my video about it contributes to its end.”
Commenters on the video have largely been supportive with many offering their support, or expressing shock and outrage that someone would be watching porn on a plane while several commenters have attempted to drag Scholfield for looking at her seatmate’s phone.
Others shared their similar stories including one commenter noting, “one time i [sic] sat right behind a man who was looking at feet pics the entire 4-hour plane ride.” And another commenter shared, “I saw a guy go on Arab grinder finding old Arab dudes but naked on the dating app. I was 13.”

Call me very suspicious. I haven’t seen an empty seat in first-class on Delta in a long, long time. The only exceptions have been regional flights operated by their partners. Many of the flights have 30, 40 and even upwards of 50 passengers on the upgrade list, thanks to two years of status extensions. Admittedly, most of those flights are on mainline Delta. Yet, even Delta Connection’s smaller regional jets, which this appears to be, often have more than a dozen people on the upgrade list.
@ FNT DELTA DIAMOND, that was exactly my reaction. This cannot be true. Based on the way Delta upgrades all the way thru silver medallions, and the current status/volume of travel, it’s inconceivable that there were not enough people with status that resulted in a spare seat being open.
I saw a flight attendant looking at dick pics in her text messages once when getting up to use the lavatory and walking past her in the jump seat. Plenty of crew and passengers are looking at porn on the plane. Just not necessarily videos. I wonder what is considered porn these days. They sell Playboy at the airport. Playboy is pretty mild compared to what you can find on the internet. What about pulling out a Playboy and reading it? Some of the movies that Delta and other airplanes play in seatback entertainment have nudity and softcore sex scenes. Is that porn?
