While some may suffer from hotel insomnia, generally speaking, sleeping in hotels is totally doable and a great mattress is the foundation to achieving that goal.

So, let’s dig in, starting first with the eponymous Marriot Bed!

The Marriott Bed by Jamison – the Official Marriott Mattress

What kind of mattress does Marriott use? What mattresses do Marriott Hotels use? These are easy questions! They are Jamison beds.

The Jamison bed is the mattress used in Marriott Hotels worldwide. Let’s look at the details of what is, in our opinion, is the most comfortable hotel bed.

See the Price of the Marriott Hotel Bed

Marriott, for the most part, uses the same mattress across all its hotel brands, and a fine mattress it is. The Marriott Hotel Bed, by Jamison (sometimes simply known as the “Marriott Bed”), is the chosen Marriott mattress brand and it is a masterpiece of comfort.

It’s also one of the best hotel beds to buy and arguably the most popular hotel mattress option in the world.

According to its product description, this hotel bed is a resilient high-density soy-based comfort foam designed to equalize body support thereby improving blood flow and allowing for more restful slumber.

The Marriott Mattress is designed to remain firm for years of restful nights and enjoys a quick-recovery feature that reduces the sinking feeling that accompanies nights on other mattresses. This top hotel bed offers medium to firm support.

PS…if you can’t afford the Marriott Bed you can probably afford a Marriott Mattress Topper.

All parts of this top hotel bed are hypo-allergenic which helps protect against dust and allergens. Plus, it is darned comfortable which is why it is one of the top-rated hotel mattresses (by both business and pleasure travelers).

What’s the best hotel mattress to buy? We rate the Marriott Jamison Mattress the Best Hotel Mattress to buy!

You can purchase the Marriott Bed on Amazon via the Marriott Hotels Store.

Westin Hotel Mattress – The Westin Heavenly Bed & Box Spring

The Westin Hotel Mattress (aka the Westin Heavenly Bed) is world-famous for its incredible comfort and luxurious sleep experience. Travelers worldwide have enjoyed their comfort night after night. It is also one of those few hotel beds consumers can buy – and we’ve slept on it and agree!

Click Here to See the Price of the Westin Hotel Heavenly Bed

The Westin hotel mattress is made by mattress leader Simmons specifically for the Westin Hotel chain. As Westin notes, this hotel mattress is “…uniquely designed with plush, pillow-top construction for premium comfort and support. Slip into the Westin Heavenly Bed and experience a night of restorative sleep to get you ready for the day ahead.”

The Westin Bed is one of the finest hotel beds in the world and is renowned for its comfort and stability.

Almost all Westin mattress reviews suggest that this bed lives up to its reputation and is worth the cost. If you can find a Westin Mattress sale, jump on it because it’s typically worth your time and money.

You can purchase the Westin Hotel Heavenly Bed Mattress & Box Spring via Amazon’s Westin Store.

St. Regis Bed

The infamous St Regis bed can be purchased directly from Amazon or directly from St Regis themselves: The St Regis bed, like all Marriott products, is a Simmon’s product, however, it’s the high-end BeautyRest Black mattress which is top-of-the-line.

Hilton Canopy Bed by Serta

What bed does the Hilton Canopy hotel use? This new hotel brand from Hilton uses a custom-made Serta Perfect Sleeper Plus mattress. If you’ve ever stayed at a Canopy brand hotel, it is definitely a unique experience. Throbbing music in the lobby, modern stylings like concrete floors, and modern art mixed with a hip bar and good eats. This ain’t your typical Hampton Inn.

That applies to the bedding situation too where Hilton’s Canopy brand has partnered with Serta to deliver a custom version of Serta’s popular PerfectSleeper brand.

We recently stayed in a Canopy and loved the mattress so much we ripped the bedding off to the frame to find out the brand. Here’s the evidence (see pic below):

While consumers cannot purchase this exact model you can purchase a Plush Serta Perfect Sleeper Mattress from a variety of locations including:

Hilton Serenity Mattress – by Serta

The luxurious Hilton Serenity Mattress made by Serta exclusively for Hilton is available to the public, but you can’t buy it on Amazon. Consumers can, however, buy it directly from Hilton’s website, here. Alternatively, you can buy it from Wayfair, or Overstock, or other popular retailers.

Invalid request error occurred.

See Amazon Price for Sheraton Mattress

We stayed at a Sheraton property and like we normally do, we stripped the sheets back to see what kind of mattress was in use (see our pictures below). Indeed, like many Marriott properties, the mattress is a Simmons product. It’s a comfortable mattress that features semi-firm springs with a plush top. It also has custom embroidery displaying the Sherwood Resorts logo (for some reason). That means it was an older mattress…pre-acquisition. It also held up pretty well! The newer model is simply the Sheraton mattress, displayed below. Consumers can buy it on Amazon, or directly from Sheraton.

Cambria Hotels Simmons St Pierre Recharge Pillow Top Mattress

Cambria Hotels, of the Choice Hotels Family (think Best Western, Clarion, Quality Inn) features a Simmons Beauty Rest mattress known as the St. Pierre Recharge. American Hotel sells it for under $600.00!

This isn’t the best hotel bed you can buy, but it’s a nice second place and these hotel mattresses are still fairly comfortable.

If you are on a budget this may be the best hotel mattress option to go with.

Ritz-Carlton Sealy Posturepedic Hotel Mattress

The Cadillac of hotel mattresses! The Ritz-Carlton Sealy Posturepedic is a fine piece of sleep craftsmanship. You can purchase it directly from the Ritz themselves, or buy a similar model on Amazon (see price) (for cheaper).

Fairmont Hotels in-Room Bed Sealy Posturepedic Hotel Bed

Fairmont Hotel’s mattress collection is extremely durable made from dense premium foam. It also features a luxury, plush pillow top for ultimate comfort.

Listen, this hotel mattress is not one of the top hotel mattresses, but it’s still a solid option, relatively comfortable (hey a mattress is a subjective decision anyway) and it might do the trick for you.

You can purchase it here.

Kimpton Mattress

Kimpton’s Hotel Mattress and Bed Spring can be purchased directly from Kimpton via their KimptonStyle website. Kimpton also sells all of its bedding here as well.

Four Seasons – Custom Ultra Plush Simmons Four Seasons Mattress

What is the Four Seasons hotel mattress? The Four Seasons hotel chain uses a Simmons brand hotel mattress. The Simmons Four Seasons Mattress is definitely a highly sought-after bed.

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts notes this on their bedding website:

We understand better than anyone that a great night’s sleep leads to vitality and wellness and that it all starts with a luxuriously comfortable mattress. That’s why we’ve spent 50 years in partnership with the best experts and in consultation with guests to perfect our mattresses”

You can purchase this Simmon’s Hotel Mattress directly from each local Four Seasons Hotel. Just give the local hotel itself a call or read more about the program here.

Novatel Mattress

The Novatel hotel chain boasts more than 500 locations worldwide. Although it’s owned by Acor Hotels, it still operates as its own brand. Can you buy a Novatel mattress? Yes, Novatel mattresses are sold directly from the Novatel store.

Novatel uses the LIVE N DREAM mattress which features a micro coil base with a memory foam upper layer. It is sold directly from the Novatel Store.

Premier Inn Mattress

Can I buy the Premier Inn Mattress? Yes, the Premier Inn uses the Hypnos mattress through a partnership with Hypnos Beds. The Hypnos mattress is an extremely comfortable and durable bed.

It features a solid top divan, and the mattress is made with 1,000 pocket springs and then wrapped in hypoallergenic material. It is then tufted and finished with a wool-filled soft topper.

One thing, however, that is not retro, is the very luxurious and comfortable TWA Hotel Mattress!

The Marriott Renaissance hotel collection is part of the premium collection of Marriott properties and typically Renaissance properties are quite nice. This includes their bedding collection which is also luxurious. The Marriott Renaissance Mattress is based on a Sealy Posturpedic Artesia HD – a mattress used in several other Marriott properties.

Folks can also purchase the mattress directly from Marriott here, or can buy it from the Renaissance store on Amazon.

AC Hotels Mattress

The AC Hotels collection is a more modern hotel experience in the Marriott Bonvoy collection of properties. This hotel brand features generally newer-looking properties with modern facades and hip lobbies. Their bedding collection isn’t anything overly special or luxurious, but the AC Hotels mattress is a Serta PerfectSleeper Corporate Suite II model – a capable and comfortable model for long-term use.

As far as we can tell, this model is not available to consumers at this time.

Frequently Asked Questions

We get so many questions about hotel beds and what mattresses they use, or what the firmness is, etc that we have dedicated an entire section to frequently asked questions about hotel beds.

What hotel has the most comfortable mattress?

The Marriott Jameson Bed is consistently ranked as one of the most comfortable hotel mattresses. The Marriott Hotel Bed, by Jamison (sometimes simply known as the “Marriott Bed”), is a masterpiece of comfort. It’s also one of the best hotel beds to buy and arguably the most popular hotel mattress options in the world.

Why do hotel beds feel so good?

Higher quality mattresses than you probably use at home are certainly a factor. However, the excitement of staying in a hotel, and the different-ness / new-ness of the bed also play a mental factor. That said, hotel beds are usually pretty good quality.

Why do hotels have two double beds?

Hotel rooms with two beds are primarily designed to accommodate families with children. Parents will share one bed while children will share another. These beds are almost always full-sized or double beds which can make sharing a bed a little tight, but still manageable.

For guests who wish to stay in a room with a larger bed, simply ask the front desk for a single bedroom. In most cases, they will be able to accommodate guests with a king-sized bed.

What Hotels have a Tempurpedic Bed?

No major hotel chains currently hotels have Tempurpedic beds. There are many regional or local hotel chains (think Sleep-Off Inn in the middle of nowhere Colorado or something) that allegedly have Tempurpedic beds, but thus far no major hotel chain has made this a key part of their sleep strategy.

As a reminder, Tempurpedic beds are a special type of mattress made from unique foam first developed in coordination with NASA. Tempur-Pedic was actually a standalone company however it is now part of the Sealy company.

What kind of mattresses are used in Marriott Hotels?

The Marriott Jameson Bed is consistently ranked as one of the most comfortable hotel mattresses. The Marriott Hotel Bed, by Jamison (sometimes simply known as the “Marriott Bed”), is a masterpiece of comfort. It’s also one of the best hotel beds to buy and arguably the most popular hotel mattress option in the world.

Who makes the Marriott Mattress?

Who makes Marriott Mattresses? The Marriott Hotel Bed, by Jamison (sometimes simply known as the “Marriott Bed”), is made by Simmons as part of their Beauty Rest Hyde Park collection.

What kind of mattresses do Hilton Hotels use? Or, what mattress does Hilton use?

Hilton uses mostly Serta mattresses in their bedding family. These can only be purchased directly from Hilton Home stores.

What mattress does Westin use?

The Westin Hotel Mattress, also known as the Heavenly Bed is world-famous for its incredible comfort and luxurious sleep experience. This Simmons product has been enjoyed by travelers across the globe.

Which hotel has the best mattresses?

This is a subjective question, but the Marriott Bed by Jamison is one of the most popular hotel mattresses. It is consistently ranked as a top mattress overall by consumers and travelers alike.

What is a Serenity bed at the Hilton?

The Hilton Serenity bed is the mattress used at Hilton Hotel Properties. This patented quilted design is made by Serta and can be purchased directly from Hilton’s Home Store.

Is the Westin Heavenly Bed firm or soft?

The Westin Heavenly Bed is a Medium-Firm mattress. However, many people report it to be a bit softer than they expected.

Which hotel has the most comfortable beds?

The Marriott Bed by Jamison is consistently ranked as the most comfortable bed used in hotels. However, other popular hotel mattresses include the Westin Heavenly bed, the Hilton Serenity Bed and the Ritz Carlton Sealy-Posturpedic bed.

Why are hotel mattresses so comfortable?

Hotels want to deliver the best possible sleep experience to their guests. This means investing in proper mattress technology and quality. Many hotels leverage higher-quality materials to maximize their guest’s sleeping experience.

Are hotel mattresses firm or soft?

Typically, hotel mattresses fall into the medium-firm range. Given the number of guests sleeping on a hotel bed each year a more durable (firm) mattress is often needed rendering a softer mattress unlikely to stand up to regular usage. Too firm a mattress would deliver a poor sleeping experience to guests. Thus, medium-firm mattresses are often used in hotels.

What mattresses do Hilton Hotels use?

Hilton uses Serta mattresses in all Hilton Properties. This bed is a custom-made mattress used in Hilton Hotels worldwide. Guests can purchase a Hilton Bed directly from the Hilton Home store.

How often do hotels change mattresses?

Hotels typically change their mattresses out every 3 to 5 years, unless there is noticeable damage to the mattress. Hotel mattresses are intentionally designed for recurring wear and tear from frequent use. Occasionally, hotels will use a Mattress Topper to extend the life of a mattress.

What are the sizes of hotel beds?

Hotel bed sizes are almost exclusively one of two sizes: King-sized or Full-sized. King size beds are used in single bed hotel rooms whereas full-size mattresses are often used in double bed rooms.

  • Typical King mattress size: 76″ (W) x 80″ (L)
  • Typical Full (or double) mattress size: 54″ (W) x 75″ (L)

However, it is not uncommon for a “hotel king” size bed to be used which is slightly smaller king-size measuring 72″ (W) x 84″ (L). The slightly smaller size provides more space in the hotel room.

Occasionally, hotels will also provide Queen sized mattresses in their rooms. A queen-sized mattress is typically 60″ (W) x 80″ (L).

Hotel Bed Height – why does it seem like my hotel bed is lower than my own bed?

Hotel beds are usually between 28 and 30 inches from the hotel room floor. This often presents a challenge to guests with disabilities where the average height of a wheelchair seat is 19″. Despite recommendations that hotel beds be between 20 and 23 inches from the floor, such heights are seldom found, except in some cases, in hotel rooms equipped for handicapped guests.

Who makes the St Regis bed?

Luxury hotelier St Regis uses a high-end Simmons Beautyrest Black Mattress. This luxurious mattress offers a delightful sleeping experience and consumers can purchase this exact same model for themselves.

Bonus: How to Make a Bed Like a Hotel

By the way…have you ever wished you could make your bed at home look like a hotel bed? How the heck do hotels make their beds look so luxe? Like, I can never make my bed at home look that way! Well, check out this HGTV video that shows you how.

Maybe a Hotel Pillow Top Mattress Pad will do the trick?

If buying a full-blown mattress isn’t in the cards for you a cheaper option may be available. Using a Hotel Pillow Top Mattress Pad could get you a lot closer to replicating that amazing hotel sleep experience you had. Here are a few options:

Best Hotel Like Mattress

Buying a $4000.00 Ritz Carlton mattress may not be in the cards…but that doesn’t mean you can up-level your sleeping experience. By going with a hotel-like mattress you can still get a great night’s sleep even if you can’t take out a loan for your bed.

One of the best hotel-style mattress options is this queen-size bed from CHD.

How to Test a Hotel Mattress

Here is a short, but fascinating video on how to test a mattress out before you buy it. In this case, since you are trying to buy a Hotel Mattress, use these same techniques…but employ them at the hotel you are staying in that has the mattress you are thinking of buying.

Where can I buy a Hospitality Bed?

Hospitality beds are beds specifically designed for hotels. Mattress suppliers will create specific mattress options for hotel brands designed to be purchased in bulk and featured throughout the brand’s properties. Nearly all hospitality beds are designed for an ideal mix of comfort (for the guest) and durability (for the hotel).

I liked that you explained that a luxury hotel will look for the best materials and exceptional manufacturing quality when purchasing bedding in order to create a luxurious experience for the customer. There is nothing better than receiving comfortable sleep to remove the stress of traveling and I would love to experience that every night! Thank you for the insight into the quality that hotels look for when buying bedding and where I can buy my own!

Hi, excellent overview of the beds in hotels, but some hotels don’t think about the convenience for guests, and this is very bad, my friends went on vacation to Thailand, they really didn’t like the service and lack of amenities, it’s probably good that I am a lazy person and I don’t travel to other countries.

Thank you for the article.

Some of the best hotel beds I’ve stayed in have been B&Bs. Mind you I tend to love them because they’ve lovely and soft and that’s the opposite to what we have at home! Conversely hubby hates them!

Very interesting about the DT mattress’. I had actually reached out to the manager of the DT in Chattanooga about this 2 years ago. She directed me to the Serta hotel mattress website said it was the Congressional Suite Supreme II Euro Pillow Top. I bought it, but have been very disappointed-definitely not the same as what I had in the hotel.

I have a serious love affair with hotel mattresses. So far, my favorites are Hilton and Westin. Marriott’s are pretty good too. Almost considered buying one, but opted for a mattress in a box. I think a hotel bed will be our next purchase.

Hi,

1) Which mattresses and beds do the Eurostars hotel chain use? The one in Brussels ( Eurostars Montgomery) was excellent. I recall the manufacturer began with the letter P.

2) All your Amazon links are being rewritten to local Amazon sites, which means most people cannot buy.
Amazon.com sell the bed linen. They sell internationally. But, clicking on the link rewrites from amazon.com to amazon.fr. Amazon.fr have never heard of Marriot ( or much else since most Amazon European web sites are gimped. Exception is the UK site). Please can you stop the URL rewriting?

Can you find where you can order the Sealy Posturpedic Monogram 600 Euro Pillow Top Plush mattress?
The Ocean House in Watch Hill uses that bed and it is very comfortable – but where they purchased it is no longer available.
Is that very similar to the Ritz mattress?
I think you have to custom order it.
I also read that the Monogram is the line used for hotels….
Thank you!!!!

The “Marriott bed“ is no longer the Jamison mattress. Jamison merged with solstice sleeper in 2014 and the last Jameson website and/or working telephone number to Jamison seem to have disappeared about 2020. Marriott mattresses are now labeled “solstice sleeper“ and their reviews do not appear to be very good
