Flight delays can be extremely frustrating and this group of passengers hits their limit as they find out their flight has been canceled. “You better call somebody because it’s about to be an uproar in here,” says one passenger infuriated at the reason for the delay: a drunk woman removed from the flight.

Frontier Airlines flight 2878, a Miami to LaGuardia flight was recently canceled after (allegedly) a drunk woman caused a disturbance. While a cadre of police surrounds the gate agent, she announces the flight has been rescheduled for the next morning due to an oversold situation to which the crowd groans and yells.

One passenger remarks, “does oversold mean drunk passenger?” Another passengers notes they’ve been waiting for 2 hours. Later the story changes as the gate agent tells the crowd that LGA has closed the airport early meaning they cannot leave from Miami that night.

Later in the video, passengers remark that they were on the plane and taxiing before returning to the gate to remove the passenger. While the specific details of the situation remain unconfirmed, one thing is clear: poor communication by the airline exacerbated the situation.

This is the first time this flight route has been impacted by drama. In March of this year, a family was removed from the flight when their 18-month old wouldn’t wear a mask – at least according to one side of the story. A large Orthodox Jewish family was booted from the flight after a single member of their cadre – a small child – didn’t wear their mask. The incident drew intense scrutiny on the airline, however, there was apparently more to that story when Frontier Airlines released the following statement, “The issue that arose was not with the child. There were multiple adults in the group who refused to wear masks despite repeated requests to do so.”

Travel-related disturbances have risen to dramatic levels in the wake of the pandemic as mask-wearing has become a hot-button issue for many passengers. The FAA has increased fines related to such disturbances and thus far it has had a positive impact.
