A swarm of bees invaded a Louisiana airport causing a brief delay while they were safely removed from the air conditioning hose of a Delta Airlines flight.
On the afternoon of Sunday, May 22 a swarm of bees invaded an air conditioning hose of a Delta Airlines flight parked at a New Orleans International Airport gate.
A local bee removal expert, Craig Forsythe who runs the company Bee Guyz, was contacted and arrived on site to find a horde of bees that had taken residence in an air conditioning hose.
According to a local news agency, the bees were drawn to the cool temperatures in the 12″ round hose that is connected to planes to pump in cool air during the unloading and loading of planes between trips.
After a roughly 90-minute delay, the bees were removed through an incredibly delicate suctioning process to avoid harming the bees in the process.
According to Forsythe, none of the 15,000 or so bees were injured in the incident and the queen bee was even safely recovered.
