Nearly 7,000 employees of this airline will take part in an international showcase of an entirely new set of uniforms for flight and ground crews. The stylish and sophisticated new duds were designed by renowned designer Teresa Helbig.


Spanish company Iberia Airlines is rolling out new uniforms to nearly 7,000 employees across their ground and flight crews. The new uniforms were designed by renowned fashion designer Teresa Heibig, the first woman to design Iberia clothing options.

In what the airline is calling a “premier in the air” a worldwide launch is being scheduled for June of this year and is timed to coincide with the launch of Iberia’s revised food options.

In a press release from the Spanish airline, they noted the designs were a sober, elegant and functional designs built around the modern stylings of the airline which has been undergoing a brand transformation since 2013. The new uniforms represent the final touches on the rebranding effort which also saw a revision of their logo.

The new designs feature twenty garments including dresses, skirts, pants, blouses, and coats as well as several accessories including ties, scarves, gloves and bags.

The release went on to note, “classic tailoring to create light and modern designs, but without being anchored to current trends to mark their timelessness. A collection that combines craftsmanship, haute couture, and avant-garde materials in a look at the past with an eye on the future to continue reinventing tomorrow.”

Gema Juncá, Director of Brand & Marketing of Iberia noted, “ …the new uniform is a key part of our brand, a sign of identity that reinforces our commitment to fashion and the values ​​of Spanish culture. We want our employees to feel proud to wear it and to represent Iberia.”

From a color scheme perspective, navy blue features as the prominent color palette across the new uniforms but they are offset by the traditional Iberia reds, yellows and oranges. Blouses and shirts feature a calming ecru color.

The press release also noted that “…aesthetics and design prevail above all, seeking a balance between functionality and beauty. “ We have created this proposal out of emotion because flying and designing are very similar: both try to materialize dreams. We have not thought of these pieces as mere uniforms, but as garments that, in addition to being comfortable and functional, are flattering and maintain their style and elegance over the years.”

The airline’s splashy launch will start in June out of their Madrid base, then be rolled out at various Iberia stopovers throughout the rollout phase.
