Dogecoin is burning up the newsfeeds these days as its popularity continues to rise (along with its price!). But what can you use Dogecoin for? Turns out, quite a lot and that includes booking a hotel. Here’s how to book a hotel with Dogecoin. Plus a special deal for people who use crypto to book a hotel at one travel provider.
What is Dogecoin?
Dogecoin, for those unfamiliar with the crypto, was initially started as a joke coin in the early days of the crypto boom. The coin is often referred to as the “meme coin” and while it may have been started as a joke it is a very real coin, with very real use cases and a rabid following. The friendly community of Dogecoin owners makes owning the coin a lot of fun (seeing your Robinhood account add $5k in a day makes owning the coin fun too…lol).
The community surrounding Dogecoin tends to be enthusiastic, friendly, upbeat, and a little silly sometimes which makes owning and using Doge more fun than some of the other cryptos. Of course, the support of Elon Musk, Mark Cuban and other influencers helps too.
There are many who predict that Dogecoin will overtake over Cryptos (like Bitcoin) as the people’s coin and with an easily accessible price point still, its following has only increased as of late.

One of the drawbacks to Dogecoin is that many exchanges don’t offer it (yet) – places like Coinbase which are easy to use for crypto newbs do not sell Doge just yet. However, with its popularity increasing, the coin is becoming more accessible.
How to book a hotel with Dogecoin
Using crypto to purchase travel is increasing in popularity. We recently covered how Dogecoin holders can purchase an airline ticket here, but as use cases for Crypto increase, we fully expect other travel providers to add more crypto payment options – including Dogecoin.
One place people can already use Dogecoin to book hotels is the reputable and popular crypto travel platform Travala which allows users to book and pay for their lodging in many forms of Crypto – including Dogecoin.
You can also sign up for a free Travala account here – book your first property and we both get $25.00 (US).
Where can I buy Dogecoin?
Dogecoin can be purchased in a variety of places including some of the exchanges listed below:
- Robinhood – keep in mind that Robinhood doesn’t have Crypto wallets yet which makes using your Dogecoin impractical – for now. They are actively working on Crypto wallets so this barrier is likely temporary. Robinhood is easily the easiest place to buy Doge given the immense amount of effort they’ve placed into simplifying the user experience. Sign up for a free Robinhood account here.
- Kraken – popular Crypto exchange Kraken sells Doge and has become much easier to use
- Binance – the extremely popular crypto trading platform Binance allows users to buy and use Dogecoin and is relatively easy to use.
While the popular and extremely easy to use Coinbase trading platform does not currently offer Dogecoin many in the industry are holding a candle for this development and here at the CBoardingGroup we expect they too will get on the Dogetrain eventually.
Despite the progress made in the wider adoption of crypto, the space still can be a wild and risky place. Enter at your own risk. 🙂
