During an apparent dispute between passengers over the overhead bins storage, a fight broke out that saw man grab a woman’s hair and drag her down the aisle of the airplane. The incident, some of which was caught on camera, caused the flight to be delayed for five hours.

A Tunisian Air flight destined for Tunis-Carthage International Airport was delayed for five hours on Saturday after a dispute among boarding passengers broke out. While details are a bit thin, it’s been reported that the dispute was related to the storage of luggage and belongings in the overhead bins.

The video picks up mid-incident and shows several passengers standing and yelling, and some pushing and shoving on the flight which originated from the Istanbul airport. At one point, a man reaches out and grabs a passenger by the back of her hair and violently pulls her backward, dragging her down the aisle for a brief moment as pandemonium ensues.

A Tunisian Air spokesperson Ghassan Ouji, offered this statement, “An investigation has been opened, and that the passengers, at the origin of the incident, could be the subject of prosecution.”

Disagreements during the boarding process are not entirely uncommon as tempers can sometimes run hot as passengers attempt to stow their belongings. Hair pulling, showing, and outright violence, are, however, less common, although they have increased in frequency during the last few years.

Maybe if airlines were not doing everything to make paying passengers have such a terrible time, these hostilities wouldn’t erupt: no leg room, smaller seats, paying for everything….like luggage on a plane, selling food instead of offering free food, and lastly, people looking like they rolled out of bed on a plane. We need a new approach . Also, economy class shouldn’t be treated like steerage.

Now that the world is recovering from its pandemic status, which should be re-classified, and MASKS should NO LONGER be mandated, I am confident the heightened aircraft incidents will return to pre-pandemic statistics. It is extremely Dangerous to continue requiring masks on flights under the current tightly structured seating arrangements compounded by the unwelcoming “fees” created by the airlines. Flying is no longer promoted as a luxury optional experience, but rather as a cattle-car money maker steerage of the human commodity. The tightly fitted seating has cheapened and undignified the prestige of flying. In addition, I encourage a reasonable standard of dress-code acceptability with consideration of your shared travel cohort passengers. Why? For the safety of ALL the souls in your aircraft!

There is no reason for anyone to act like this. People get away with acting like Heather s because they can. Place signs around you will be put off plane for any disorderly behavior and not allowed on another flight for 48 hrs. I bet you would see better behavior.
