The baggage handlers did what to their luggage?

A team of airport baggage handlers was caught on video unloading luggage in the most cavalier way possible. See the shocking video here.

The video you are about to see is entry number 4,328 in the journal of “reasons to avoid checking your bag.” As a lifelong carry-on-only traveler I despise checking a bag. On a recent trip to Colorado we were forced to check bags given the amount of ski and winter gear we were traveling with and while it worked out just fine, I hated every second of the bag checking process.

From extra time added to the start and finish of your trip to the risk of it getting lost or damaged to the video taken by a couple flying on American Airlines that shows baggage handlers with serious disregard for their job, there are just not a lot of great reasons to check a bag.

In the video, below, we see at least two baggage handlers unloading a plane. As the luggage reaches the end of the conveyor belt they carelessly toss the bags to the ground – at least a 4 foot fall. Their body language suggests they could give two craps about their job or their cargo.

This isn’t the first entry in the crappy baggage handler annals and it won’t be the last. And while suitcases are generally designed to be somewhat durable there’s no need for an employee to do their job so poorly. Let’s hope American Airlines finds and reprimands these employees.

Consider us firmly entrenched in the carry-on-only club.
