Delta is now providing complimentary customer care kits for passengers. Passengers who’ve forgotten their face mask or who would may need some hand sanitizer, can request a free safety kit from a gate agent.

Delta, like most airlines, has revamped its sanitation policies as well as introduced some new requirements for travelers flying Delta planes. Notably, Delta passengers are now required to wear face coverings when traveling.

Bill Lentsch, Delta’s Chief Customer Experience Officer, noted:

“Nothing is more important than the health and safety of our people and our customers. While we remain committed to our new standard of clean and to providing more space for our customers when they travel, we take seriously the CDC guidelines for adding this extra layer of protection. We believe this change will give customers and employees some additional comfort when traveling with us.â€

Face coverings are now required by most airlines, including Delta, Southwest and United, and a cottage industry has sprung up around selling face masks for travel. For example, as pictured below, AirporTag, a popular travel-novelty company, now sells travel-themed face coverings.

There’s even talk about the TSA requiring or performing temperature checks of travelers to help minimize the spread of coronavirus and some travelers have started bringing their own travel-sized thermometers with them as one of the new must-have travel gadgets.

Travel, in general, remains down, and travel related unemployment crossed the 50% mark just recently. However, there have been some signs it’s slowly starting to pick up as travelers exceeded the 345,000 mark on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend.

The industry is still off historic lows with same day travel last year being nearly 2.8m passengers. What is clear is that airlines are doing everything they can to make travel as safe and clean as possible for travelers and Delta’s free customer care kits are one good example.

Thanks and be safe out there!
