It’s Travel Tip Tuesday and our 3rd post of 2020 is all about leveling up your headphone game! Frequent Travelers are constantly on the road and faced with long periods of boredom. Good headphones can help change that experience and worth every penny you spend on them!

#LevelUp your Headphone Game Already!
Noise Pollution? Sounds like the name of an 80’s Disco Band (or maybe German Heavy Metal Band opening for the Scorpions). Epic power cords aside, noise pollution is a real problem for air travelers. It’s defined as: “propagation of noise with harmful impact on the activity of human or animal life.”
When traveling we hear the constant dull roar of the engines and for some of us that’s a comforting sound (yeah…you might be spending too much time on the road…just saying). For some, it’s incredibly annoying. And for all of us, we need to be concerned about potential hearing loss.
This is why the savviest travelers among us have already upped their headphone game deploying noise canceling headphone strategies like John Wick uses a book…like total badasses.
Others not so much. You are a tangled mess of cords until at least 10,000 feet, then your earbuds keep falling out because you lost one of the plastic protective sleeveless pulling it out of your backpack.
Oh and they are not noise canceling so the soundtrack to the Titanic movie you are watching, now features Celine Dion accompanied by a baby crying and the porn the guy is watching in the seat behind you. #StayClassy
You need to up your headphone game. Here’s a few simple suggestions
If you are a serious traveler you need to invest in some serious headphones. Skip your wife’s birthday present this year and buy yourself something nice…like a pair of Bose Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones (like the Bose QuietComfort 35). You can use them to ignore her too and stay hands free when her attorney calls you.
If you ain’t a Bose guy, the fellas over at Beats put out some good stuff too. Like the Beats Studio Wireless Over-Ear Headphones. #Tight.
And of course, Apple’s Air Pods are pretty tight (and popular these days too!)
If you are too broke-ass to afford something fancy…deploy an interim step like I’ve done before.
Go cheaper, but still wireless and still some level of noise suppression-y technology. I’ve used the FX-Viktaria’s before and here’s a quick product review on them. Or the Beats Solo 3 Headphones which we review here.
If you are stupid rich then this set of just under $1K (wait…what…thousand bucks for wired headphones!?) the AUKEY Arcs Wired Headphones could be for you.
Next: Identify and procure a backup set of corded headphones – then store them correctly.
This is a critical step. Your fancy headphones might run out of power because you forget to charge them like the knucklehead you are or they might break when that idiot in row 3C hits you in the head with his hard case carry on.
